VIDA Stroller
Transforming Urban Stroller
Fall 2023
Synopsis
A 16-week senior project to develop a design language and theme within a 3-person team. My individual task was to design a new stroller for this project.
The goal was to design a personal transportation solution that improves on utility for urban users
Core Objectives
Explore and establish a design language
Ideation
AI visualization
VR modeling
Prototyping
Solidworks
Modularity
KeyShot
An Outgrown Problem
Children over 3 years should NOT use strollers
According to American Academy of Pediatrics…
but, strollers are expected to last 8 years
So, what else can your stroller do for you?
Midjourney
Stroller design Opportunities
What if a product made to carry our precious cargo could continue to carry what we need as they grow?
How could a stroller be transformed for everyday life in the city? Could it become a backpack, turn into a mini table, a suitcase, or a cart?
AI visualization to evaluate the edgy and soft form language directions of the stroller
Developing Proportions
Early on, I established the scale and proportions for the frame and seat to translate into the selected concepts.
The Approachable Direction
INteraction + transition refinements
Frame 1
Bend and Swivel
Frame 2
Slide and Swivel
To validate the size and ergonomics of the main structure, I prototyped a full-scale mock-up of the stroller and used an existing children’s car seat as a reference for the size of a toddler seat.
Urban Lifestyle Stroller
Establishing the materials of the stroller with their intended manufacturing methods and purpose
Seamless Transition
Vida Stroller allows for a simple transformation into a cart for trips to the farmers market, going to picnics, shopping in the city, and easy transportation of supplies.
For the Long Run
Made with a modular structure so parents can keep their Vida Stroller for as long as they need.
